He is a graduate of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and was awarded his PhD from Australian National University (ANU Canberra) in 2000.

Joanna Octavia is a public policy professional with over a decade of international experience spanning research and industry, with expertise in regulatory strategy, policy research, and multi-sectoral stakeholder engagement. In 2023, she was awarded a PhD in Employment Research by the University of Warwick. Previously she had done private sector policy work for Uber. More recently, Joanna was Head of Programming at Asia House in London, where she led high-level engagements connecting policymakers and business leaders from Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, which addressed critical issues such as digital transformation, international trade and investment, and geopolitical shifts.

She also conducted human rights data analysis and led data and policy analysis for various research projects, such as Sentencing Guideline of Terrorism in Indonesia and Prisoner Screening. She recently graduated from Australian National University in a major of Social Research Method.
